Kinston Indians News Release
Kinston, NC - The Kinston Indians are teaming with local schools for the All-Star Student Program. The All-Star Student Program rewards local students with free Anytime Tickets (a reserved seat for any 2010 K-Tribe game) for their hard work.
As part of the All-Star Student Program, each school will determine the criteria for earning an Anytime Ticket. From outstanding work, to improving work, to great effort, the program gives schools and teachers the flexibility to set whatever criteria they want.
The All-Star Student program begins this week in Lenoir County and will expand to other schools around Eastern North Carolina in the coming months.
The Lenoir County Public School system decided to offer this program to schools that have Positive Behavior Support. This program uses incentives to reward students whose behavior adheres to school expectations, rules and procedures. Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a common approach to discipline that is pro-active, instructional, and outcome-based. Each elementary and middle school and Sampson Alternative school implement the PBS program. The PBS Leadership Team at each school will set criteria for students to receive tickets.
Last season, The Kinston Indians Home Run Reading Challenge was implemented in 42 schools encompassing eleven counties in Eastern North Carolina. 2009 was the third straight season of a K-Tribe sponsored reading program in our local schools. The All-Star Student Program takes the place of the Home Run Reading Challenge, offering a more flexible and easier way of rewarding students.
