KANNAPOLIS, NC - Pitching carried the day on Saturday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium, but in the end the Intimidators had a little bit more, claiming a 1-0, 10-inning win over Greensboro.

Pinch hitter Jorge Castillo drove in pinch runner Sergio Morales with a sacrifice fly to leftfield to plate the only run of the evening and send the Intimidators home a winner. Jose Vargas led off the inning with a base hit off of Brandon Todd (2-2) and an error by centerfielder Kevin Mattison allowed the Kannapolis first baseman to move into scoring position. The run was unearned charged to Todd.

The victory allowed Kannapolis (33-28) to keep pace with first-place Lakewood, who knocked off Lake County on Saturday. The Intimidators remain 3 ½ games back with nine to play before the All Star break.

Intimidators starter Charlie Leesman dueled with Greensboro southpaw Brad Hand for the first seven, with each going scoreless over that stretch. Leesman allowed just four hits over his time on the bump, walking two and striking out three.

Leesman gave way to Tyson Corley who went two clean frames. Corley did walk a pair of batters in the top of the ninth, but got Justin Bass to groundout to keep the Grasshoppers (30-30) off the board.

Garrett Johnson (3-3) picked up the win by pitching a perfect top of the tenth. The 6-foot-10 southpaw also struck out two.
