Intimidators Pitching Shuts Down Grasshoppers In 5-2 Victory

Greensboro, NC - Levi Maxwell was victorious (5-1) in his return from Winston-Salem with 7.0 innings giving up just two runs in a 5-2 Intimidators win over Greensboro in front of 7,597 fans at NewBridge Bank Park.

Maxwell gave up just a solo run in the second and fifth innings before settling down. Wander Perez backed him up with scoreless eighth frame and Leroy Hunt picked up his third save of the year with two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth.

Offensively, Kannapolis struck first (snapping eight straight games in which its opponent scored first) with a Logan Johnson RBI single to plate Sergio Morales. Johnson picked up his second run batted in with a groundout in the third frame and two more in the fifth on a two-run single. Johnson finished 2-for-4 with four runs driven in.

Jim Gallagher drove in the other run in a three-run fifth inning which proved to be the difference. Gallagher drove in Morales on a double. Gallagher went 2-for-4 to extend his hit streak to seven games and 13 of 14 contests.

Matt Inouye also had a base hit to extend his hit streak to eight games.

Kannapolis is back in Greensboro tomorrow night for a 5:00 start for the second game of a five-game roadtrip.
