Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
(Kannapolis, NC) â The Kannapolis Intimidators announced today the Chicago White Sox named Chris Cron as manger of the Intimidators for the upcoming 2004 South Atlantic League season.
This marks the second tour of duty in the S.A.L. for Cron who led Hickory to the playoffs in 1997 as an affiliate of the White Sox. Cron spent last season as the White Sox minor league bunting instructor and managed the Great Falls White Sox to a 38-38 record in the Pioneer league. The former infielder appeared in the big leagues with the Chicago White Sox (1991) and California Angels (1992).
"We have been very fortunate with the staff members the White Sox have placed with us over our three years as the White Sox affiliate in the South Atlantic League" said Tim Mueller, General Manager of the Intimidators, "Having met Chris when he was a roving instructor we are very confident that we will have one of the best managers in all of minor league baseball."
Returning from last season are pitching coach Sean Snedeker, entering his third season in Kannapolis, and hitting coach Brandon Moore. Tomas Vera takes over as trainer replacing Kevin Pillifant who was assigned to Great Falls. John Orton, who managed the Intimidators the past two seasons, swaps with Cron as manager of Great Falls.
The Intimidators open the 2004 season hosting the Lakewood BlueClaws at 7:05pm from Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. For ticket information or for more information on the 2004 season, please contact the Intimidators at 704-932-3267 or visit the official team website at www.intimidatorsbaseball.com.
