Inter Miami CF Forward Leonardo Campana Voted MLS Player of the Matchday Presented by Continental Tire for Matchday 10

NEW YORK - Inter Miami CF forward Leonardo Campana was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Matchday presented by Continental Tire for Matchday 10 of the 2023 MLS season.
Campana scored his first two goals of the season during the club's 2-1 victory at the Columbus Crew on Saturday, April 29 (Watch Highlights From His Performance Here ). The Ecuadorian forward produced the third multi-goal game of his career, with his most recent coming on September 18, 2022, at D.C. United. Since the start of the 2022 season, Campana has scored 0.64 goals per 90 minutes, which is the fifth-best mark among MLS players with at least 1,800 minutes over that span. Campana's 13 goals and three multi-goal games are both the second most in club history, behind only Gonzalo Higuaín (29 and five).
Just seven minutes into the match, Miami opened the scoring when Nicolás Stefanelli played a long diagonal pass to 18-year-old Benjamin Cremaschi, who redirected his header into the path of Campana for the striker to nutmeg the goalkeeper with his finish (Watch Here). After Columbus tied the game, Campana scored the game-winning goal when he rose high in the air to meet Jean Mota's corner kick and powered a thunderous header into the net at the 41st minute mark ( Watch Here).
Campana is the first Miami player to win MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Continental Tire since Alejandro Pozuelo did so on Matchday 25 in 2022. Campana has now earned the honor twice (Matchday 6 of 2022), tying Gonzalo Higuaín for the most in club history. He also joins LAFC's Carlos Vela as the only players in the league to win the award in each of the last two seasons.
Inter Miami will look to win consecutive games when the host Atlanta United at DRV PNK Stadium on Matchday 11 on Saturday, May 6 (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass).
The MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Continental Tire is selected each matchday of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio, and online media.
