Indy Eleven President and Chief Executive Officer Greg Stremlaw Awarded MIT Executive Certificate
July 1, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Indy Eleven News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Indy Eleven is proud to congratulate President & Chief Executive Officer Greg Stremlaw on his recent accomplishment of earning an Executive Certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) Sloan School of Management.
Stremlaw's Executive Certificate strategic track was focused on Leadership and Management, a field he has ample experience in stemming from two decades in executive positions in the sports and recreation field, including as the Head of CBC Sports at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the CEO of Curling Canada. Stremlaw also has been a senior executive at eight different Olympic Games, most recently as General Manager and Chef de Mission in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro and 2018 in PyeongChang, South Korea.
"I think having a diversified skill set makes us better. I think a diversified workforce makes us better. Diversity of thought is a wonderful thing. If we only look at problems with one set of eyes or one mentality, often times we don't get the right answer," explained Stremlaw. "I think doing this Executive Certification at MIT from a management and leadership standpoint, it's a different way to create options of how to solve problems."
The Executive Certificate took Stremlaw four years to complete. Each of the various course modules completed were conducted at MIT's campus in Boston, with tracks including Analytics Management: Business Lessons from the Sports Data Revolution and Decision Making Lessons from the Sports Industry. Before earning his Executive Certificate at MIT, Stremlaw also completed the Program for Negotiation at Harvard Law School in 2017.
Founded in 1914, the MIT Sloan School of Management offers the Executive Certificate with three different areas of focus, including Leadership and Management, Strategy and Innovation, and Technology and Operations. The MIT Sloan School of Management is consistently ranked as a top ten business school in the world in numerous academics rankings by publications such as Forbes, Times Higher Education and U.S. News & World Report.
