Individual Workout Sessions to Highlight Strong Island Tryouts

Patchogue, NY- The Strong Island Sound have announced that the team will be conducting Individual Workout Sessions as a part of their tryout procedure to complete the roster for the upcoming 2007-08 season. Candidates who excel in the sessions will be invited the Veteran's Training Camp in September.
The Sound will be announcing the signing of selected players from last season's squad shortly. The I.W.S. will decide the remaining spots that will begin the season on Long Island.
The private sessions will rate potential players on speed, endurance, strength, basketball intelligence, shooting, ball-handling and size under the supervision of a professional coach from the Sound staff in an indoor facility. Players/free agents who score in the 90 percentile range will be invited to Veteran's Camp. The sessions duplicate the procedure used by all professional franchises, including the National Basketball Association, to identify potential draft picks and free agents.
"We have a core of returning players and we need players that compliment our existing team," said Sound co-owner Darren Cioffi. "We feel that observing players in this manner will allow us to get the best talent out there."
The Sound will be entering their third season in the ABA and have qualified for the postseason in each of their first two seasons in the league.
