Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS -- Thursday evening's International League contest between the Indianapolis Indians and Rochester Red Wings has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions caused by heavy rainfall this week.
The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Friday, May 1, at 5:30 p.m. EDT. Both contests will be scheduled for seven innings. Gates will open at 5 p.m.
"We regret that our field was not ready for play on Thursday night," Indians Vice President & General Manager Cal Burleson said. The heavy rains of this week saturated portions of the infield dirt and made for a less than adequate playing surface. We appreciate the fans who came out on Thursday night, and the efforts of our grounds crew who worked hard to improve the field's condition. The Indians will take every step necessary to make Victory Field playable for Friday night's doubleheader."
Rochester RHP Anthony Swarzak and Indianapolis RHP Jason Davis are the probable starters for game one, while Red Wings RHP Phillip Humber and Indians RHP Ty Taubenheim are expected to get the nod in game two.
Both of Friday night's contests will be carried by WXLW-950 AM and www.IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley. The pre-game show begins at 5:10 p.m.
Fans with tickets to Thursday evening's game may exchange them for tickets of equal value to another 2009 regular-season home game. All exchanges are based on availability and must be made at the Victory Field Box Office.
