Durham, NC - Durham broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning highlighted by John Jaso's two-run single as the Bulls knocked off the Columbus Clippers, 6-3 on Thursday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Matt Joyce led off the bottom of the seventh and was hit by a pitch by LHP Zach Johnson (0-1). Justin Ruggiano followed with a single, then Chris Richard walked to load the bases. Following Adam Kennedy's lineout to second, Chris Nowak hit a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Joyce and giving the Bulls a 4-3 lead. Jaso followed with his RBI-single plating Ruggiano and Richard to give the Bulls a 6-3 lead.
LHP Randy Choate (1-0) picked up the win with a perfect inning of relief. LHP Zach Johnson took the loss allowing three runs on one hit and a walk in two-thirds of an inning. RHP Winston Abreu picked up his second save of the season.
