Kinston Indians News Release
The K-Tribe fell behind early and could never quite catch up as Lynchburg beat Kinston 10-7 Saturday night in Virginia. It is the first time Kinston has dropped back to back games since May 28th and 29th. The Hillcats jumped all over starter Frank Herrmann scoring two runs in the first, three in the second and two more in the third inning. Herrmann (5-2) did not make it out of the third, giving up eight hits and six earned runs. Kinston cut into the lead in the fourth inning when Nathan Panther scored on a wild pitch. Mike Butia and Josh Rodriguez would score later in the inning on RBI from Jerad Head and Chris De La Cruz. Up 7-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Lynchburg pulled away again scoring with a bases loaded, two-out, two-rbi single by James Boone. Kinston came back with two more runs in the ninth inning, but couldn't get over the hump. Stephen Head and Josh Rodriguez each had two hits for Kinston; Wes Hodges had two hits and improved his consecutive hit streak to 20 games. Pat Bresnehan (4-1) took the win for Lynchburg, throwing three innings of one hit relief.
The K-Tribe returns home on Sunday to start a short three game home stand with the Salem Avalanche. Two of the best pitchers in the Carolina League will square off at a special 5pm start time on Sunday afternoon. Kinston will send Ryan Edell (7-3, 3.29) to square off with Salem's Brad James (8-1, 1.82).
