Utah Eagles News Release

Shawn Fountain had one of those nights that even he shook his head at and smiled, as the Indiana Alley Cats defeated the Utah Eagles 125-112 in Salt Lake City. The win broke a two game losing streak for Indiana, while the loss was Utah's second in a row at home.

Utah was held to three field goals in the first period, but Indiana only hit on 8 of 19 from the floor themselves. Bryant Markson led Utah with 7 points, all from the free throw line, and Harold Arceneaux had 6 as the teams finished the first quarter tied, 19-19. Fountain then took over the game, hitting an assortment of open jumpers and driving lay ups, scoring 18 points in the quarter. Erick Barkley added 7 points and Will Caudle 6 as the Alley Cats ran out to a 9 point half time lead, 55-46. Markson had 11 points for Utah to keep the deficit in single digits.

Fountain and Barkley were joined by Carl Edwards in the scoring party, as the three combined for 30 points in the third as the Alley Cats withstood the offensive output of Arceneaux and Markson. Arceneaux had 11 while Markson added 8, but Indiana increased its lead to 11 as Fountain drained a three pointer at the buzzer to lead 91-80.

Utah made a run at Indiana, cutting the lead that was as much as 18 to 3 with 4 minutes left. John Millsap and Rob Griffin combined for 15 points to start the run, while Arceneaux and Markson added 6 each. With the lead down to 3, Romeo Augustine hit a three pointer with 2 seconds on the shot clock to stop the Utah run, and Fountain then drained a three to remove any doubt of the games outcome.

Fountain finished with 37 points, while Sullinger and Barkley added 25 and 23 points. Carl Edwards and Will Caudle finished in double figures with 15 and 11 respectively. Markson led Utah with 32 points, while Arceneaux finished with 23. Rob Griffin added 19 and John Millsap 15 for the 4-8 Eagles. Indiana improved to 5-7. Utah plays host to Pittsburgh Friday, and Indiana travels to Butte to take on the Dare Devils. For more information, visit www.utaheagles.com .
