Imperials to participate in Sports Night

April 13, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Palm Beach Imperials News Release

West Palm Beach, FL. The ABA Palm Beach Imperials announced that the basketball organization will participate in the Clematis by Night's April 13th Sports Night in downtown West Palm Beach sponsored by the West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority and Clematis by Night.

The event will feature sports car exhibits, NFL players, professional cheerleaders, sports memorabelia, auctions and more. "This is the perfect venue to introduce ourselves to the WPB market," said Lamont Carr, Palm Beach Imperials general manager and head coach. "The response that we have received so far from Palm Beach County and the fact that we are now being invited as West Palm Beach's hometown team is an honor and a privilege."

In late March, the Palm Beach Imperials held their first tryout and a workout camp at the Athletic Club of Boca Raton. Since then, the Imperials have selected an eight-man squad (to be announced tomorrow) and have developed a new dance team called the Imperial Girls Dance Team. Attendees will have a chance to greet the new players and members of the I Girls Dance team, Coach Carr and the Imperials executive staff.

As part of the Sports Night, hosted by Clematis byNight and the Downtown Development Authority, there will be a charity auction to benefit the Police Athletic League (PAL). For the auction, the Palm Beach Imperials have graciously offered to give one lucky person the reality basketball experience of a lifetime - the winner will be allowed to participate in one practice with the ABA's new team, the Palm Beach Imperials, and receive one hour of private coaching instruction from Coach Carr.

"Being a part of the Clematis by Night series is exciting in and of itself, but being able to help the young children of our community who participate in youth athletics through PAL just makes it all the more worthwhile," said Joshua Yager, Palm Beach Imperials Director of Marketing.
