MONTREAL ¬" The Canadian Soccer Association unveiled the new format and schedule for the 2011 Nutrilite Canadian Championship.
For the first time, the tournament will have four teams with the addition of FC Edmonton, a NASL expansion team. The previous round tournament will be replaced by two semi-final home-and-away games and a home-and-away championship series, both based on aggregate scores.
The Montreal Impact will play the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, which has joined Major League Soccer (MLS) for the 2011 season, on April 27 at Saputo Stadium, at 8 pm. The return match will be held in Vancouver on May 4.
The other semi-final sees the Toronto FC host Edmonton on April 27, with the return leg set for Alberta on May 4.
The matchups were decided based on the clubs ¬â¢ 2010 regular season standings in the MLS and the USSF Second division, with the seating as follows: Toronto (1), Vancouver (2), Montreal (3) and Edmonton (4).
The final series will be played on May 18 and 25. The highest seated qualifying team will decide what date it prefers to play its home game.

The Toronto FC went on to win the 2009 and 2010 editions of the tournament.
