IHL Reveals 2009-10 All-Rookie Team

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced today the 2009-10 All-Rookie Team as selected by league head coaches, general managers and members of the media.

2009-10 IHL ALL-ROOKIE TEAM

Goaltender - Rob Nolan, Flint Generals

Defenseman - Frankie DeAngelis, Fort Wayne Komets

Defenseman - Matt Krug, Muskegon Lumberjacks

Forward - Mickael Bedard, Port Huron Icehawks

Forward - John Mori, Flint Generals

Forward - Sean O'Connor, Fort Wayne Komets

Rob Nolan (G), Flint Generals -The 24-year-old native of Sherwood Park, Alberta had a stellar season between the pipes for the Generals, finishing the year second among IHL goaltenders in minutes played (2679:40), second in saves (1,339) and tied for fourth in save percentage (.912). Despite his 19-22-3-1 record, he held the league's best save percentage among rookie netminders (.912). He recorded his first professional shutout on December 26th, stopping all 26 shots he faced against Dayton.

Frankie DeAngelis (D), Fort Wayne Komets - The 25-year-old Woodbridge, Ontario native registered 41 points for the Komets, scoring nine goals and dishing out 31 assists in 73 games played. His 41 points made him the Komets second most productive defenseman. He completed the 2009-10 season with a plus-31, which was second among IHL rookies and tied for third among all IHL skaters.

Matt Krug (D), Muskegon Lumberjacks - The 24-year-old native of Southfield, Michigan ranked first among defensemen in the league with 47 points, scoring 14 goals and 33 assists after the 2009-10 regular season. He also led defensemen in power play goals (9) and was tied for first in goals scored (14) with Fort Wayne's Guy Dupuis. The rookie defenseman was honored as the IHL Defenseman of the Year last week.

Mickael Bedard (F), Port Huron Icehawks - The 22-year-old Montreal, Quebec native finished the season leading the Icehawks in scoring with 73 points (35 goals, 38 assists) in 76 games played. Bedard also finished the regular season leading all rookies in points (73), goals (35), assists (38), plus/minus rating (plus-34) and tied teammate Brandon Naurato for the lead in power play goals (11). He was also named the Rookie of the Year last week by the IHL.

John Mori (F), Flint Generals - The 23-year-old native of Westport, Connecticut completed his rookie season ranked second among IHL rookies in scoring with 65 points. He scored a total of 27 goals and 38 assists, which ranked him second in both categories. He led the IHL in shorthanded tallies, scoring six this season. He had a total of eight multi-game point streaks this season, including two seven-game streaks.

Sean O'Connor (F), Fort Wayne Komets - The 23-year-old Brownstown, Michigan native completed the 2009-10 regular season ranked third among IHL rookies in scoring, registering 23 goals and 28 assists for 51 points in 72 games played. He was the Komets most productive rookie this season, and ranked fifth overall on the Komets active roster in scoring. He was second among rookies in shots on goal, recording 226, including a league-high 12 in one game on March 7th.
