IHL Weekly Honors Week Three

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Bloomington forward Craig Macdonald has been named the IHL Player of the Week, Fort Wayne defenseman Frankie DeAngelis has been named the IHL Rookie of the Week and Fort Wayne goaltender Nick Boucher has been named the IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 1st, 2009.

Macdonald completed the week scoring two goals and dishing out three assists for five points in two games played by the PrairieThunder. Friday, he netted Bloomington's first shorthanded tally of the season, also adding two power play assists in the 5-4 win over the Komets. Saturday, Macdonald scored the game-winning goal on the man advantage for the PrairieThunder in the 3-1 victory over Flint. The 27-year-old Milton, Ontario native has scored at least one point in five of the six games played so far, having scored multiple points in three of those five games.

Other players nominated for the IHL Player of the Week include: Dayton defenseman Phil Youngclaus, Flint center Greg Bullock, Fort Wayne center Leo Thomas, Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard, Port Huron right wing Mike Kinnie and Quad City center Joel Gasper.

DeAngelis wrapped up his first full week as a Komet notching in four points (one goal, three assists) in two games played. After being held scoreless in his Komet debut last week, DeAngelis scored his first professional points Friday in the 5-4 loss to Bloomington, scoring on the Komets power play and having two assists on the night. The 24-year-old Woodbridge, Ontario native also assisted on the Komets third goal of the night, helping push Fort Wayne to a 3-1 victory over Muskegon. After just three games, his four points make him the Komets most productive rookie so far this season.

Other players nominated for the IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington right wing Matt McIlvane, Dayton forward Sam Bloom, Flint forward Lucas Schott, Muskegon defenseman Matt Krug, Port Huron defenseman Adam Maccarone and Quad City right wing Brandon Marino.

Boucher was solid between the pipes for the Komets, earning the win in his only game played over the weekend. He made 26 saves and only allowed one goal against in the battle with Muskegon Saturday night, completing the week with a.963 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average. The 28-year-old Cobble Hill, British Columbia native has started four of the Komets six games so far this season. Boucher is currently ranked third in goals against average (2.49) and save percentage (.927) among IHL goaltenders.

Other goaltenders nominated for the IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Paulo Colaiacovo, Dayton's Derek MacIntyre, Flint's Jean-Francois Labbe, Muskegon's Matt Lundin, Port Huron's Larry Sterling and Quad City's Kyle Jones.
