Upcoming Games
Detroit plays host to the Wave at 7:35 pm ET on Friday, March 2 before heading to Milwaukee on Sunday, March 4 for a 2:00 pm ET contest and the final regular season meeting between the two clubs this season. Detroit dropped the first two games against the Wave on December 9 and 10 but returned with a weekend sweep of its own on January 12 and 14. Detroit will enter the contests with the League's top power play (54.8%) and penalty killing (66.7%) units as Milwaukee brings the MISL's highest scoring offense with an average of 13.7 points per game. Friday's battle at Compuware Sports Arena will consist of the League's top three scorers in Ignition star Jamar Beasley (78 pts) and Wave players Greg Howes (72 pts) and Todd Dusosky (69 pts).
Wave Players to Watch:
Marcio Leite - Considered one of the MISL's top rookies, Leite has established himself as a potent offensive threat with tremendous ball control and foot skills. The Aracaju, Brazil native was identified as an emerging star by the Wave while playing futsal in his home country. Leite has registered at least a point in 18 of the 20 games he has appeared in during the 2006-07 campaign and has raked in 13 points against the Ignition this season, more than he has against any other MISL member club.
Nick Vorberg - A key component to the amount of success Detroit will have this weekend relies upon the play of Wave netminder Nick Vorberg. A winner of five of his last six games in net, Vorberg currently ranks second in the League in wins (11), second in minutes played (1198), and first in total saves (257).
Stat of the Week:
The Ignition boasts the League's most productive second half team. Through 22 contests this season, Detroit has posted 158 points in the third and fourth quarters combined, more than any other club in the MISL.
