
Ignition Re-signs 9 Players For 2007-08 Season

(Southfield, Mich., September 28, 2007) - The Detroit Ignition has signed nine returning players to new contracts for the 2007-08 season, the club announced Friday. The nine veteran players are:
Mike Apple (Forward)
Droo Callahan (Defender)
Matt Johnson (Defender)
Hewerton Moreira (Forward)
Doug Rice (Midfielder)
Josh Rife (Defender)
Worteh Sampson (Forward)
Kyt Selaidopoulos (Midfielder)
Danny Waltman (Goalkeeper)
In addition to the nine players that have signed new contracts, forward Jamar Beasley, defender Nate Craft, and midfielders Ricardinho and Ryan Mack also return. Per club policy, the financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
Following the Ignition's 2006-07 season, forward Jamar Beasley was named MISL Most Valuable Player, and was selected to the All-MISL First Team. Beasley was also the Puma Scoring Champion, leading the league in scoring with 107 points. Defender Nate Craft was named to the MISL All-Rookie Team. Last season, the Ignition finished first in the MISL in regular-season action with an 18-12 record.
