
Ignition falls on late KiXX goal

(Southfield, Mich., January 28, 2007) - The Detroit Ignition (11-8) was defeated by the Philadelphia KiXX (10-5), 9-8, in front of 3,975 at Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth, MI on Sunday. The game-winning goal, a three-pointer, was scored by KiXX forward Dino Delevski with just 45 seconds remaining on the clock to put Philadelphia back in sole possession of first place in the Major Indoor Soccer League. The Ignition heads to California on Saturday, February 3 to take on the Cougars at Stockton Arena in Stockton, CA. Game time is slated for 9:00 pm ET and can be heard live via webcast at www.californiacougars.net.
The KiXX were on the board first with the only goal of the first quarter at 3:48 from midfielder David Castellanos to give Philadelphia the early 2-0 advantage.
Player/Coach Don D'Ambra started the second quarter with another KiXX goal, a two-pointer, at 1:35 to put the Philadelphia lead at 4-0. Ignition defender Matt Johnson buried one into the back of the net for two points at 4:42, cutting the KiXX lead in half to 4-2. Philadelphia's offensive pressure continued at 10:59, with a two-point goal from Steve Wacker off a pass from Ptah Myers, giving the KiXX the 6-2 lead at the end of the first half.
Carlos "Chile" Farias started the second half with a two-point goal for the Ignition at 2:15, bringing the KiXX advantage back to within one score at 6-4. Mike Apple beat KiXX netminder Peter Pappas at 11:37 off the restart to bring the game to a 6-6 tie at the end of the third frame of play.
Rookie forward Mauricio Salles broke the tie at the 7:36 mark of the fourth quarter to put the Ignition in control with an 8-6 lead. KiXX forward Dino Delevski hooked a three-point goal past Ignition goalkeeper Sanaldo at 14:15, giving the KiXX the 9-8 victory.

Ignition goalkeeper Sanaldo earned the loss in net for the Ignition while stopping 13 of 17 shots faced...With the win, the KiXX are now alone atop the MISL standings...Rookie Mauricio Salles led all Ignition scorers with three points in just his second career game...The Ignition heads to California on February 3 to take on the Cougars at 9:00 pm ET, the game can be heard live at www.californiacougars.net.
