
Ignition Defeat Excite, 30-4, In Preseason Action

(Southfield, Mich., October 20, 2007) - The Detroit Ignition defeated The Cincinnati Excite, of the American Indoor Soccer League, 30-4 this afternoon to conclude the club's preseason schedule.
The Ignition struck first in the contest as forward Hewerton Moreira scored an unassisted two-point goal 15 seconds into the first quarter. The first quarter also saw two-point goals from Ignition forward Mike Apple, defender Droo Callahan and midfielder Ryan Mack, who contributed two goals in the period. Ignition training camp participant Chad Severs also notched a two-point goal. The first quarter ended with a 12-2 score.
At 4:20 in the second quarter, Callahan scored a two-point goal with an assist from forward Jamar Beasley to bring the score to 14-2. With 4:57 left to play in the half, Ignition defender Nate Craft notched a two-point goal off an assist from Apple. Moreira closed out the half for Detroit with two goals, bringing the score at halftime to 20-4.
Ignition defender Jonathan Greenfield scored the first goal of the second half, an unassisted two-point shot at 1:30 in the third quarter. Beasley, the 2007 Major Indoor Soccer League MVP, notched two-points with an assist from Callahan to bring the score to 24-4 at the end of the quarter.
Ignition training camp participant Derek Garrambone scored Detroit's first goal of the fourth quarter, a two-point shot off an assist from Craft. With 7:54 to play in the game, Greenfield notched an unassisted two-point goal. Ignition midfielder Ze Roberto scored the club's final goal, a two-point shot with an assist from Moreira, to bring the final score to 30-4.
The Detroit Ignition is a member club of the Major Indoor Soccer League, and begins
the team's second season in November 2007 after advancing to the MISL Championship
