IFL takes bold step forward at 2008 Spring Meetings

January 15, 2008 - Intense Football League (Intense) News Release

The Intense Football League held its Annual Spring Meetings this past week in Galveston Texas. Over 60 participants, from the nine member teams and IFL Staff, came together and had the most successful meetings in the 4 year existence of the League. The teams worked hard to create personal relationships and focused on the common goal of making the upcoming 2008 Season a success and the standard for other Leagues to follow. " We want all our teams to be a success on and off the field," stated Intense Football League President Chad Dittman. " Having them share ideas and helping each other to succeed will only benefit the IFL in the long term."

The Intense Football League adopted a 3 week playoff system over the previously used 2 week format. This will allow 6 teams to make the playoffs for the upcoming 2008 Season. The two teams with the best overall record going into the playoffs will receive a first round bye. The Intense Bowl 4 will be held on Saturday July 19, 2008, hosted by the highest remaining seeded team left in the playoffs. "This will give more of our teams the opportunity to make the playoffs," said Intense Football League Director of Communications Robert Winfrey. "That should strengthen our league and give the fans something more to be excited about."

Additionally, the league has adopted a 20 -man active roster for game days. While teams will continue to hold a total of 25 players in their arsenal, each will now be able to dress 20 for games rather than 19 as has been done in the past.

The Intense Football League was given a presentation by one of the a groups vying for a potential expansion team. The IFL will look into this further, along with other expansion offers that are brought in for the 2009 season and beyond.
