Billings Wolves News Release
Billings, MT - The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to the addition of an expansion team in the Billings, MT community. During a press conference this afternoon at the Lexington Inn and Suites, League officials and team representatives introduced the team to the media by unveiling the team name and logo. The Billings Wolves become the 10th member-team of the IFL and will begin play during the 2015 season.
The team will be owned and operated by Hardin, MT native Ronald Benzel, of Benzel Brothers Farm, with Marc Burr serving as the team's General Manager. "We want this to be Billings' team," stated Burr. "We are looking forward to being very involved within the community and putting a team on the field that Billings will be proud of."
"This is a very exciting and historic day for the Indoor Football League," stated IFL Commissioner Mike Allshouse. "Almost four years has passed since a devastating tornado ripped through the community and destroyed the Rim Rock Auto Arena. We are proud to say today that indoor football is back in Billings and is here to stay."
The Wolves will be the second team from Billings to compete in the IFL. The Billings Outlaws participated during the 2009 and 2010 seasons, winning the League's championship game, the United Bowl, each year. The team was forced to cease operations after a tornado wreaked havoc on the area, causing massive damage to the team's home arena.
In addition, the Wolves introduced the first head coach in team history. James Walton, an All-IFL WR during his playing days with Outlaws, will roam the sidelines during the team's inaugural season.
The IFL, a professional football league, kicks off its sixth season of play this Friday, February 21st and concludes at the end of June with the League's United Bowl Championship Game. Its teams are located from Kennewick, WA to Green Bay, WI. All IFL games can be streamed live online at www.americaonesports.com.
