April 28, 2005 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release

Boise, ID (April 28, 2005) — The Idaho Stampede, and the Bank of America Centre in Boise, Idaho, will host the 22nd CBA All-Star Classic in mid-January 2006, it was announced Thursday by the Continental Basketball Association League Office and the Stampede front office. The All-Star Classic will mark the first time that the Stampede has hosted a league event, and the game will coincide with the CBA's 60th Anniversary Season, marking the league as the oldest professional basketball league in the world.

"We are thrilled and very excited to host the All-Star Classic during the CBA's 60th Anniversary Season," stated Stampede Managing Partner Bill Ilett. "Combined with us moving in to our new home in the Bank of America Centre, this will be a great showcase event for our organization and our community, and we will provide an NBA-type of experience that will make this a memorable event for our fans, as well as the league."

Added Bank of America Centre General Manager Debbie Kling, "The Bank of America Centre is thrilled to have the opportunity to host this game with the Stampede. It will be a wonderful asset to our guests that will be joining us at this event, and they will find that they will love the city and the accommodations we provide. Everybody will have a wonderful time."

Stated CBA Commissioner Gary Hunter, "We expect the 2006 All-Star Classic to be nothing short of a first-class event. The Bank of America Centre is a tremendous venue to witness a sporting event, and combined with the hospitality in the Treasure Valley and the great support of Stampede fans, we are very excited about our league's mid-season celebration being hosted by the Idaho Stampede."

In the 21st CBA All-Star Classic, held on January 19, 2005, the Eastern Conference All-Stars defeated the Western Conference All-Stars 114-110 in front of 6,683 fans at the Genesis Convention Center in Gary, IN. The game featured four players who were called-up to the NBA during the season, or who had previous NBA experience (Jackie Butler, Britton Johnsen, Mark Jones, Randy Livingston), and played host to scouts from 29 different NBA teams. Idaho Stampede forward Sam Clancy was named Game MVP after posting 25 points and 17 rebounds, as was voted on by media and the NBA scouts in attendance.

Traditionally, the All-Star Classic is a two-day event, with the Long Distance Shootout and the Slam Dunk Contest held the first day, while the All-Star game and post-game autograph session is held the second day. Actual dates of the event will be announced when the 2005-06 season schedule is released.

Tickets to the 2006 CBA All-Star Classic will be included in 2005-06 Stampede season ticket and corporate partnership packages, and will go on sale to the general public in November.
