Ice's Ortega Named Player of Week

INDIANAPOLIS-The Indiana Ice announced today that forward Austin Ortega has been named a co-recipient of the USHL's Forward of the Week. Ortega shares the award with Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward Andrew Poturalski.

Ortega received the weekly honor after posting five points (4G, A) in contests against the Green Bay Gamblers on Wednesday and back-to-back matches with Cedar Rapids on Friday and Saturday.

The Escondido, CA native potted a goal and an assist in the 5-3 road win against the Gamblers before following up with a goal in Friday's 4-3 loss to the RoughRiders on Friday. Ortega finished the weekend with two goals in Saturday's 7-5 loss to Cedar Rapids from Pan Am Plaza.

Entering his second USHL season, Ortega is second in the league in goals (7) and leads the team in points (11). Prior to being acquired by the Ice in an offseason trade, the University of Nebraska-Omaha commit spent the 2010-11 season with the RoughRiders. He finished his first USHL season ranked second on the Cedar Rapids roster in goals (19) and tied for second in power play goals (7).

Join Ortega and the Indiana Ice this Saturday as they host the Lincoln Stars from Pan Am Plaza. The puck is set to drop at 7:05 pm.

Indy opens the Bankers Life Fieldhouse portion of their schedule on Friday, November 9 against Green Bay. The game is slated to begin at 7:05 pm and is presented by BMO Harris Bank.

Single-game tickets start at $11 for Bankers Life Fieldhouse games and general admission tickets for Pan Am Plaza games are $10. There is a $2 discount for children 10 and under and seniors 62 and over.
