CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS - The Corpus Christi IceRays, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), and Braselton Homes are teaming up to present a Women's Shelter Winter Wonderland Skate Night at the American Bank Center on Tuesday, Dec. 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the American Bank Center Arena.
The IceRays and Braselton Homes have partnered to provide post-game skating with the IceRays players after every Friday and Saturday home game for the last two seasons to pair the Corpus Christi community with a rare chance to skate on the team's home ice. This season, the two organizations are providing more opportunities to join fans and the team on the ice with a community-first initiative with each public skate night. The Winter Wonderland Skate Night shines a light on the Women's Shelter of South Texas, a nonprofit organization based in Corpus Christi focused on empowering and providing shelter and assistance for victims and survivors of family violence or sexual assault. The IceRays and Braselton Homes each look to the event to be a helpful boost this holiday season.
"It's that time of year when we need to give a helping hand to people in our community who may need a little extra assistance," said Pat Dunn, IceRays General Manager. "The IceRays are partnering up with Braselton Homes for a very fun and unique way to provide goods and the holiday season to the Women's Shelter of South Texas."
"Braselton Homes is proud to have the opportunity to work with a premiere sports team and to support the Women's Shelter of South Texas," said Bart Braselton, Executive Vice President of Braselton Homes. "Together, we want to make sure that any children at the shelter have presents to open and enjoy."
Admission is just $10 per person for the skate. Proceeds from the evening's event will benefit the Women's Shelter of South Texas. Patrons are also encouraged to bring toys and goods for those staying at the shelter for the holiday season as well as donations. IceRays coaches, staff and Stinger Ray will be both on and off the ice throughout the night with a special skating appearance from Santa Claus himself. The IceRays will provide ice skates for those who need a rental for the evening.
"The Women's Shelter of South Texas is thrilled to be a part of the Winter Wonderland Skate Night with Braselton Homes and the IceRays," Kellie Addison, Chief Community Relations Officer for the Women's Shelter of South Texas. "The funds raised will benefit families in need impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. Braselton Homes and the IceRays are valued partners in helping our agency meet our mission to prevent and ultimately end domestic violence and sexual assault in South Texas."
