Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the 2015 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, announced Wednesday that they signed forward Chris DeSousa to an AHL contract for the 2016-17 season.
The Mississauga, Ontario native amassed 13 points (7g-6a) and 98 penalty minutes in 67 games for the IceHogs. The 25 year-old began the 2015-16 season with the Indy Fuel where he notched an assist and nine penalty minutes in two games before being recalled to Rockford.
Prior to turning pro, DeSousa played with the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers. In four seasons he skated in 104 games, recording 54 goals and 59 assists. After his 2014-15 season with the Panthers was complete, he skated in 20 games for the Fuel where he finished with 16 points (7g-9a) and 40 PIMs.
