Port Huron Icehawks News Release
PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks of the International Hockey League have signed rookie goalie Raffaele D'Orso as they continue to finalize their roster for the 2010 Turner Cup Playoffs.
A 21-year-old native of Montreal, D'Orso has spent the past four seasons with the Val-d'Or Foreurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The Foreurs season recently ended in the first round of the QMJHL playoffs. D'Orso appeared in 40 games for the Foreurs this season, with a 12-24-0 record, a 3.86 GAA and a 0.883 save percentage.
The Icehawks were in need of a goaltender after Adam Russo was waived so that he may appear in the upcoming World Championships for the Italian national team. D'Orso joins Larry Sterling on the Icehawks' active roster with the playoffs less than a week away.
Port Huron closes out the 2009-10 regular season with a pair of home games against the Bloomington PrairieThunder Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are available now and start at just $10. The first 1000 fans through the gates Sunday will receive a free team poster as part of Fan Appreciation Night festivities.
Tickets to the 2010 Turner Cup Playoffs and season tickets for 2010-11 are available now at the McMorran Arena Box Office. For more information, call the Icehawks office at 810-966-3800.
