
Icehawks Shutout Lumberjacks, Move Into Tie For First Place

MUSKEGON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks shutout the Muskegon Lumberjacks 1-0 on Sunday to move into a tie with their opponent for first place in the International Hockey League standings. The shutout was the Icehawks second in as many nights and extends their winning streak to five games.
Tab Lardner scored the only goal of the game and goaltender Adam Russo turned aside all 22 shots he faced to boost the Icehawks to victory. The win comes a night after the Icehawks and goalie Larry Sterling shutout the Fort Wayne Komets 2-0 in another defensive battle.
The lone goal of the contest came at 4:20 in the second period from Lardner on an assist by Jason Selleke. Russo took over from there, stopping seven Lumberjacks shots in the second period and ten in the third frame.
The Lumberjacks outshot the Icehawks 22-21 overall. Muskegon goalie Sebastien Centomo took the loss with 20 saves. The Icehawks penalty killing unit was again in top form, killing off six penalties. The Icehawks were 0-5 on the power play and the Lumberjacks were 0-6.

The game was the second in a home-and-home series. The Icehawks also beat the Lumberjacks 4-3 in a shootout on Friday in Port Huron. The red hot Icehawks improve to 16-6-0-1 with their fifth consecutive win and move into a first place tie with the Lumberjacks (15-5-0-3).
The Icehawks will look for another victory on Tuesday when they return home to battle the Flint Generals at 7 p.m. The Deuces Wild Package is available for this game and all Tuesday and Wednesday contests this season. Buy two tickets and two beers for just $22.
