FLINT, MI - Jamie Carroll scored in a shootout on Saturday to lift the Port Huron Icehawks to a 4-3 victory over the Flint Generals at Perani Arena. With the victory, the Icehawks extended their winning streak to five games and jumped into a three way tie with the Fort Wayne Komets and Muskegon Lumberjacks for first place in the International Hockey League standings.

The Icehawks have now won seven of their last eight games, including contests with the Bloomington PrairieThunder on Tuesday and Friday this week. They are currently 7-5-0-0 on the season, with 14 points in the standings. Tonight's win, coupled with losses by Fort Wayne and Muskegon, gave Port Huron a share of first place.

The two teams traded goals through the first two periods to find themselves tied 2-2 until Flint's Justin Styffe scored near the end of the second period to give the Generals a one goal lead. Port Huron goals included an even strength goal by Jeff Zehr and a power play goal from Tab Lardner. Midway through the third period, Jason Chafe beat Flint goalie Chad Alban to tie the game. Jeremy Tucker and Kerry Bowman assisted on the play.

The Generals outshot the Icehawks 7-1 during a five minute overtime period, but Port Huron goalie Kevin Desfosses made some big saves to send the game to a shootout. After the first three shooters for both teams missed their attempts, Carroll found the back of the net to end the game.
