
IceGators Name New Head Coach

LAFAYETTE, LA - The Louisiana IceGators would like to introduce the new head coach for the IceGators, Kevin Kaminski. Kaminski is taking over a team that is currently 7-19. He will take over the Head Coaching and Director of Hockey Operations immediately.
Kaminski has recently spent time as the Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations of the Mississippi Riverkings of the Central Hockey League. While with the Riverkings, he was recognized as the CHL Coach of the Year, "Best of the Best" Coach of the Year and the Hardest Working Team. His team finished as the CHL Division Champions and second in the CHL overall. The Riverkings also had the least shots on goal allowed and third in the league in goals scored.
Before coaching the Riverkings, Kaminski coached the Y-Town Steelhounds from 2006-2008. He set franchise record for wins and points in each season as the head coach of the Steelhounds. In 2007-08, his team lead the league with the most call-ups in the CHL and 1st in road wins. In 2006-07, the Steelhounds were 1st in the league in shots allowed, 2nd in goals scored with 230, and 3rd with 17 short-handed goals.
During Kaminski's playing career he saw action in the American Hockey League, International Hockey League and the National Hockey League. He spent time in the NHL with the Minnesota North Stars, Quebec Nordiques and the Washington Capitals from 1988-1997. While playing Kaminski was playing he obtained the nickname as "Killer" for his determined and aggressive style of play.
"Kevin [Kaminski] is going to bring a fast pace offense to the IceGators," replied Dave Berryman, President/General Manager of Lafayette Sports Management (the management company of the Louisiana IceGators), after being asked about some of his expectations for the new IceGators' Head Coach Kevin Kaminski. "He has a track record of success at every level he has been at, whether a player or a coach. His teams are noted for playing a tough yet disciplined style of game. He is going to bring a new excitement to the IceGators franchise. We can't wait to see what success he brings to this franchise."
