
IceDogs Too Much for Majors

Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
Toronto, Ont. (Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007) - The Mississauga IceDogs are on a roll against the St. Michael's Majors, winning their last three match-ups, including a 5-1 victory this evening. Chris Lawrence was the hero on this day for the IceDogs, with two goals, including the game-winner.
The IceDogs opened up a 2-0 lead on goals by Oskar Osala and Lawrence at 4:34 of the 1st period and 5:14 of the 2nd, respectively. The assists on these goals were credited to Lawrence, Kyle Lamb (2) and Michael Swift.
Matt Caria cut the lead in half for the Majors with a power-play marker just over a minute later. The helpers were contributed by Mike Pelech and Jesse Messier.
It was all IceDogs the rest of the way, with Stefan Legein connecting at 15:40 of the 2nd period, Lawrence adding a power-play goal at 9:44 of the 3rd period and Travis Fuller capping things off with just under seven minutes to play. The final IceDogs assists came courtesy of Lamb, Swift, Jordan Owens, Alex Pietrangelo and Luca Caputi.
Wayne Savage finished the night with 36 saves for the Majors while Andrew Loverock supplied 22 for the IceDogs. Both teams were 1 for 8 on the power-play. And, the game's three stars were Lawrence (1st), Legein (2nd) and Caria (3rd).
The Majors are on the road for the next week, visiting the Erie Otters tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m., the Oshawa Generals on Sunday night at 6:05 p.m. and the London Knights next Friday evening (January 26) at 7:30 p.m. They return home to battle the Plymouth Whalers on Sunday, January 28 at 2:00 p.m.
