Alpena IceDiggers News Release
Alpena MI: Even though the Alpena IceDiggers scored only one goal on 34 shots last night at Northern Lights Arena versus the Traverse City North Stars it was enough to earn two very important points in the North Division standing.
Goaltender Nate Pellegrino earned his first shut out as a member of the IceDiggers stopping all 30 shots he faced. Pellegrino improved his record to 3-1-1 on the season.
Team captain Jimmy McCusker netted the lone goal of the contest 1:34 into the second period. Erik Peterson and Isaac Viau drew the assists on the marker.
Last night's 1-0 win was the first time in franchise history the IceDiggers have played a game in which the final score ended 1-0.
The IceDiggers will travel to Traverse City to wrap up this weekends home and home series with the North Stars. Face off is set for 7:05PM. You can catch all the action live on the B2 network by visiting the IceDiggers website at www.icediggers.com.
Alpena returns to Northern Lights Arena next Friday night when they play host to the Mahoning Valley Phantoms.
