Traverse City North Stars News Release
TRAVERSE CITY - With a 4-1 win over the North Stars on Saturday night at Centre ICE arena, the Alpena IceDiggers forged a logjam in the NAHL North Division standings. The Stars, Diggers, and Mahoning Valley Phantoms are knotted up at 13 points apiece with sixth-place Marquette just a point back.
The setback comes on the heels of a 1-0 loss on Friday at Alpena, and marked five consecutive scoreless periods for the Stars, who fell to 5-3-3. TC finally got it going in the third period when Nate Urbaniak broke Diggers goalie Nate Pellegrino's chokehold on the Stars' offense, but it wasn't enough to put the Diggers deeper into the North basement.
TC has a week off before returning to action on Oct. 26 against Mahoning Valley at Centre ICE arena.
