St. John's IceCaps News Release

The St. John's IceCaps and Scotiabank have teamed to support local female minor hockey by presenting Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest, Saturday, February 9th at Mile One Centre.

Portions of the event are slated to be televised as part of CBC's annual Hockey Day in Canada celebration.

One hundred and fifty local female hockey players from three age groups (under-9, under-12 and under-15) will partake in on and off-ice training sessions. Canadian Olympic hockey gold medalists Tessa Bonhomme and Sami Jo Small will serve as instructors along with the IceCaps Grassroots Hockey Team.

Players can pose for photos with the Clarkson Cup (emblematic of national senior women's hockey supremacy) and meet Buddy the Puffin, and the first 50 registrants for the event will attend the St. John's IceCaps game versus the Connecticut Whale later that evening.

The event will run from 11:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
