Ice Visits Cornhusker State This Weekend

PTH '09: The Ice drew 11,120 spectators to Conseco Fieldhouse this past Saturday, but fell to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders 2-1. The game featured two of the league's premier goaltenders as the Ice's Brett Bennett and Cedar Rapids netminder Mike Johnson stopped 63 of 66 shots they faced. Kyle Flanagan's power play goal in the third proved to be the game-winner for the RoughRiders who also received an earlier goal from Matt Donovan. Mikael Owilli lit the lamp in the second period for the Ice. Indiana is now 2-3-0 all-time on "Pack the House Night" and 4-4-3 in the 11 all-time games played at Conseco Fieldhouse.

FEBRUARY FLAIR: All-Star goaltender Brett Bennett had a strong month of February between the pipes as the standout netminder went 5-3-0 with a 1.76 GAA and a .937 save percentage in eight games of work. His last win in the month was his 27th of the year which tied him with Maine goaltender Scott Darling for most wins in a season for an Ice goaltender. The USHL's win leader enters this week's play first in save percentage (.917) and third in GAA (2.44) among netminders with 25 or more appearances.

MR. KENNEDY: Defenseman Garrett Kennedy has quietly set his sights on the Ice season record for plus/minus set last year by current Niagara defenseman Robert Martini (+20). Kennedy enters this week's action with an impressive (+19) plus/minus.

PLAYER FILES: Mike Cichy had his third four-point night as a member of the Ice in Friday's 6-3 win at Waterloo and is tied for second in the USHL in goals (24) and tied for first in power play goals (11)...Torey Krug has six points (G, 5A) in his last four games and is fourth among league d-men in points (32)....Brandon Richardson has five points (2G, 3A) in his last four games and leads all Ice players with five games of three-or-more points.

TEAM MORSELS: The Ice is 8-2-0 in their last ten road games, but 4-6-0 in their last ten home games...Indiana is 14-5-0 against the West Division...The Ice owns the league's second best road power play unit (19.5%) and second best road penalty killing unit (88.9%).

CAMPUS TOUR: Cameron Schilling (2007-08) and Mike Findorff (2004-05) combined for three assists for Miami in a 7-5 win Saturday over Ohio State...Justin Milo (2005-06) had the game-winner in Vermont's 2-1 win over Maine on Saturday...Other goal scorers over the weekend included Tomas Klempa (UNO, 2004-05), Mike Hull (Army, 2005-07), T.J. Syner (UMass, 2007-08) and Jay Sprague (MSU, 2006-07).
