ICE, Rebels Clash for Fourth Time this Season

Cranbrook, B.C. - The Kootenay ICE (7-14-3-1) begin a weekend doubleheader by hosting the Red Deer Rebels (15-5-1-0) on Friday, November 23.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT.

Friday's game is titled the ICE Food Drive Night presented by Cranbrook Dodge. Everyone in attendance is encouraged to bring a cash or non-perishable food item to the game, with all donations going towards the Cranbrook Food Bank. In addition, everyone who donates will receive a 15% off voucher for a walk-up ticket to any remaining ICE home game during the 2018-19 regular season.

The ICE are coming off of a 9-1 loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors on Sunday, November 18. ICE '02-born forward Owen Pederson scored the lone goal for the ICE, which came in the second period. That was Pederson's second career WHL goal and his second goal in as many games. Goaltender Duncan McGovern stopped 20-of-28 shots in 40 minutes of action, while Jesse Makaj blocked 14-of-15 in the third period. The ICE were outshot 43-20. They didn't have a power play in the game, they went 0-for-3 on the penalty kill and won 19-of-43 face-offs.

The ICE have amassed 18 points this season, which is good for sixth in the Central Division and 10th in the Eastern Conference.

The Red Deer Rebels visit the Kootenay ICE for the second time this season on Friday, November 23, 2018. The Rebels enter Friday's contest on a four-game winning streak. They haven't played since Saturday, November 17. Following Friday's game, the Rebels return home to face the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday, November 24. Heading into Friday's game, the Rebels are first in the Central Division and second in the Eastern Conference.

The Rebels are coming off of a 5-4 overtime victory over the Kootenay ICE on Saturday, November 17. Reese Johnson netted a hat trick, including the game-winner at the 2:50 mark of OT. Brandon Hagel registered four assists in the victory. The Rebels outshot the ICE 40-30. They went 3-for-4 on the power play, 1-for-2 on the penalty kill and won 30-of-59 face-offs.

The Rebels have collected 31 points this season, which is good for first in the Central Division and second in the Eastern Conference.

The Rebels have a road record of 6-4-1-0.
