Fort Collins, CO-The Colorado Ice Professional Indoor Football team defeated the Everett Raptors, 54-25. QB Jeremy Sanders set an IFL record for completing all of his 16 passes against the Raptors. There has never been an IFL QB complete all passes in one game and Sanders' (#6) leadership and accuracy aided in a win for the Ice.
Sanders (#6), started the Ice off with a touchdown only a few minutes into the first quarter. DL Randy Earl (#51) completed a sack and the Ice defense quickly returned to form. The Ice held the Raptors from scoring until they let the Raptors offense slip by with only 3 minutes left in the quarter. Sanders (#6) carried for a touchdown to take the lead, 14-7, and allowed the Ice's momentum to build heading into the second quarter.
The determination of both teams was seen by a quiet scoreboard during the second quarter. The Ice, hungry for a win shut the Raptors offense down and with 1:08 left on the clock, Sanders (#6) completed a touchdown. A forced fumble on an Ice kickoff by DL Anthony Perkins (#55) allowed Goodman (#9) to recover the ball for 15 yards. With little time left on the clock the Ice attempted a field goal and missed. The Ice led, 21-7 going into halftime.
The Ice came out of halftime with a quick score by Sanders (#6), the PAT was no good. DB C.J. Lovett (#7) caught an interception for a touchdown shortly after. The Raptors managed to score on their next possession, closing the gap between them and the Ice. A bomb from Sanders (#6) to WR Duane Brooks (#2) for a touchdown trumped the Raptors previous score and increased their lead to 41-13.
Goodman (#9) kicked the game out of reach for the Raptors when he was successful on a 39 yard field goal to start the fourth quarter. The Raptors last ditch effort at a comeback was cut short by a pass from Sanders (#6) to WR Mark Henderson (#4), resulting in another touchdown. In the final throes of the game, the Ice let the Raptors squeak by with another touchdown. A 32 yard field goal by Goodman (#9) ended the scoring of the game. The Ice won 54-25.
Sanders (#6) was named Runza Player of the Week for his record setting performance.
