
Ice Pilots Lose 5-3 At Florida

Pensacola, FL - The Ice Pilots lost to the Florida Everblades on Thursday night 5-3 in front of 5,814 fans at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida.
The Ice Pilots jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening period. Steven Later scored his first pro goal at the 6:52 mark to give the Ice Pilots a 1-0 lead and Corey Neilson scored a power play goal on a hard shot from the left point just inside the blue line with 1:28 left in the first period to give the Ice Pilots a 2-0 lead.
Bogdan Rudenko scored for Florida at the 4:52 mark of the second period and Nick Vuckovic scored an unassisted goal at the 9:32 mark of the second period to tie the game at 2.
Pete Gardiner would give the Ice Pilots a 3-2 lead scoring in front of the net on a back hand shot at the 11:41 mark of the second peri! od. However, Florida would tie the game at 3 with 5:06 left in the second period on a goal by Jonathan Lehun.
The Everblades would take their first lead of the game scoring on a 5 on 3 advantage power play at the 7:02 mark of the third period. Kevin Bergin scored his tenth goal of the season in front of the net to give the Everblades a 4-3 lead. Chris Lee would score a shorthanded goal with 4:55 left in the game to give Florida a 5-3 win.
The Ice Pilots had 37 shots on goal, 18 penalty minutes and went 1-8 on the power play. Florida had 28 shots on goal, 26 penalty minutes and went 1-4 on the power play. Todd Ford was the losing goalie for the Ice Pilots and Craig Kowalski picked up the win in goal for Florida.
The Ice Pilots dropped their record to 10-13-3 for 23 points. Florida improved their home winning streak to 12 games and their record to 17-7-1 for 35 points.
The Ice Pilots will play the next five games at home beginning on Wednesday, December 28 when the ! Ice Pilots host the Florida Everblades at the Pensacola Civic Center a t 7:05 p.m. It is Family Night. Kids 12 and under can get in free to the game with a paid adult. A Post Game Skate will take place with the Ice Pilots' players. Admission and skate rental for the post game skate to skate with the players is $8.
