
Ice Pilots In the Community Update

PENSACOLA, FL - It was a busy Thursday for the Pensacola Ice Pilots as they attended two big activities in the community.
The Ice Pilots Mascot Ice Man and player Mario Joly took part in the Escambia County's Safety and Wellness Fair at the Pensacola Civic Center. The two were present for pictures and to sign autographs in the morning. At the fair, there were various vendors present, free health screenings and door prize drawings.
Later in the day, members of the Ice Pilots staff took part in the University of West Florida part-time job fair at the campus Commons Auditorium. Director of Community Relations Raela Villanueva, Director of Broadcasting-Media Relations Denis J. Puska and Director of Game Operations Sarah Novak as well as current Community Relations Intern Nikki Bitters spoke with students on being possible interns for Game Day Operations, Community Relations and Media Relations.

With the 2006-2007 hockey season just around the corner, the Ice Pilots will be even more involved over the next couple of months. Here is a list of upcoming events and appearances:
UNITED WAY DAY OF CARING CAMPAIGN KICK-OFF BREAKFAST:
Fri., Sept. 15, 7:30am - The Pensacola Ice Pilots will be participating in the annual Day of Caring event. Mascot Ice Man, players, and staff will be present at the breakfast kick-off at Sam's Fun City (6709 Pensacola Blvd.) in the morning and then volunteer for half a day with Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services of Northwest Florida. Ice Man, players, and staff will take a field trip with deaf students to the Emergency Management Department Office on "W" Street. Volunteers are still needed to participate in the event. PENSACOLA SYMPHONY BALL "ROMANCE & RHYTHM":
Sat., Sept. 16, 6:00 - 10:00pm - The Pensacola Ice Pilots are a proud sponsor of the Symphony Ball, a black tie gala that takes place at New World Landing (located at 600 S. Palafox St.). There will be a live and silent auction, dinner, and dancing with a swing band. Cost is $150 per person. The Pensacola Ice Pilots staff will be present at the event. PENSACOLA ICE PILOTS 2-DAY JOB FAIR:
Tues., Sept. 12 & Wed., Sept. 13, 5:00pm - There will be a 2-day job fair to recruit volunteers and interns to help work game nights and singers for the National Anthem for the 36 home games at "The Hangar" (Pensacola Civic Center). Those interested in Game Day Operations should visit the Pensacola Ice Pilots office at the rear of "The Hangar" on Tues., Sept. 12 at 5pm. Those interested in singing the National Anthem should visit the Pensacola Ice Pilots office on Wed., Sept. 13 at 5pm. S.S. DIXON PRIMARY SCHOOL CAREER DAY:
Fri., Sept. 22, 8:00am-2:00pm - Mascot Ice Man, players and staff will participate in Career Day at S.S. Dixon Primary School (located at 4585 S.S. Dixon St. in Pace, FL). There will be 12 presentations to students ages 4-8 in which students will learn about hockey, training, equipment, and more. Ice Man and players will take pictures and sign autographs. 29th ANNUAL PENSACOLA SEAFOOD FESTIVAL:
Sat., Sept. 23, 12:00-2:00pm - Mascot Ice Man and players will be present at the Children's Area of the Annual Seafood Festival for pictures and autographs. The event takes place Sept. 22-24 at Seville Square and includes food, music, a Children's Festival, artwork, a 5K race, and more! For more information on the event, www.fiestaoffiveflags.org.
COVENANT HOSPICE'S "A WALK TO REMEMBER":
Sat., Sept. 30, 8:30am - The Pensacola Ice Pilots are a Celebrate Life sponsor of Covenant Hospice's "A Walk to Remember" at the University of West Florida's campus (11000 University Pkwy.). The Ice Pilots mascot Ice Man, players, and staff will be present at the Children's Station along the walk helping children make butterflies. Registration fee is $25 for adults, $10 for Full-time students, $10 for Military, and children 12 and under are free. Registration for the 3K walk begins at 7:30am at the Commons. PLEASANT GROVE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FALL CARNIVAL & FUNDRAISER:

CHARITY CHAPEL'S PEACEMAKER'S KID'S DAY:

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY'S MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER WALK:
Sat., Oct. 28, 8:00am - Mascot Ice Man will be present entertaining children at the 3-mile walk which begins at University Mall. The event is looking for teams to participate. There will be a Team Captain's kick-off meeting on Tues., Aug. 29 at 5:30pm at the Gulf Power office on Bayfront Pkwy. For more information on the event, contact Lisa Piotter at (850) 444-6106.
RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE PLANE PULL:
Sat., Nov. 4, 10:00am-12:00pm - Mascot Ice Man will be present from 9:00-11:00am at the annual event which takes place at the Pensacola Regional Airport. Teams of 20 people are being recruited to compete against each other to pull a Boeing 727 12 feet in the least amount of time. PENSACOLA ICE PILOTS KID'S CLUB:
Kids ages 3 and up are invited to join the Pensacola Ice Pilots Kid's Club! Kid's Club members will receive a membership card, t-shirt, invitation to an exclusive meet and greet party with the Ice Pilots team, free admission to all Sunday games, a birthday card from the team and more! COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION SPOTLIGHT EVENT:
11th ANNUAL BEER FESTIVAL TO BENEFIT BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF NORTHWEST FL:
The 11th annual Emerald Coast Beer Festival, sponsored by the Escambia Bay Homebrewers and Seville Quarter, will be held on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8-9, 2006, to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida.
The Brew Fest is Friday, Sept. 8, from 6-9 pm at Seville Quarter in Downtown Pensacola. There will be live entertainment, over 200 beers and more than 20 breweries on hand. The event is limited to 1,000 people, so get your tickets early. Tickets for this event are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
The Beach Party is Saturday, Sept. 9 at 12 noon at the Best Western Resort, Pensacola Beach. The party will feature the Bud Zepper Blues Band, the Crazy Beer Olympics, and more beer tasting. The cost is $10 per person at the door.
