Ice host USHL champs twice this weekend
IN THE CREASE: Goaltender Cody Reichard has stood strong between the iron of late as he has collected wins in two of his last three appearances thanks to a solid .938 save percentage. The second-year netminder was in the pipes in the team's 3-1 victory over the Steel last Friday in Chicago where he turned back 27 of 28 shots.
THE PLAYMAKER: Forward John Kemp continues to fuel the Indiana Ice offense this season as he has registered ten points (G, 9A) in his last ten appearances. Kemp recorded a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over Chicago before passing out two helpers in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to Cedar Rapids. The two multi-point performances were Kemp's 11th and 12th of the season.
REIGNING CHAMPS ARE BACK IN TOWN: After pulling off a dramatic 5-4 overtime win against the reigning Clark Cup Champion Des Moines Buccaneers on "Pack the House Night" last February at Conseco Fieldhouse, the "Bucs" make their only visit of the season to the "Circle City" this weekend. The two teams had met on many occasions the past two years, but Des Moines switched to the West Division this season to accommodate the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets. All-time, the Ice is 6-8-1 against the Buccaneers.
MARLIN ON HAND: Sterling Marlin joins the Ice when they battle Des Moines Saturday for "Coors Light Night" with the Indiana Ice at Conseco Fieldhouse. A two-time winner of the Daytona 500, Marlin was named NASCAR's "Rookie of the Year" in 1983 and will be on hand for a meet and greet with fans where he will sign autographs. Additionally, one lucky fan will have a chance to race head-to-head against the NASCAR icon in a video game shown on the big screen to win a VIP "Track Pack" from Coors Light and the Indiana Ice during an intermission.
