NAILBITER: The Indiana Ice dominated everything but the scoreboard on Friday as the team outshot the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders 40-15, only to fall 3-2 in overtime. The Ice rallied from a two-goal third period deficit with a pair of third period goals as Brian Pinho connected shorthanded and Jake Cass scored with 15 seconds left on the clock to force overtime. With the overtime point, Indiana is now 4-1-2 in their last seven games.

CANNON FODDER: Indy's offense has been making goaltenders work overtime recently as the Ice the team has recorded over 40 shots in their past three contests and has registered less than 30 shots in only two games this season. The Ice has been especially active during the third period as they have outshot opponents 140-83 while being on the top end of a 14-9 goal-scoring margin.

STINGY: Indy's strict defense allowed only 15 shots on goal Friday, one shy of tying the franchise record of 14 set on November 5, 2009 against the Sioux City Musketeers. On that evening, Casey DeSmith (New Hampshire) recorded 12 saves during the Ice's 4-2 win while Max Cook (G, A) (Miami) and Adam Phillips (2A) (UMass) both recorded multiple-point nights in the contest.

SHORT AND SWEET: Brian Pinho's shorthanded tally in the third period of Friday's game against Cedar Rapids was the club's first shorthanded goal of the year and the first shorthanded marker since Canon Pieper scored down a man back on 4/14/13 against Waterloo.

FIVE GOLD RINGS: Darrin Flinchem, Joshua Jacobs and the United States Selects Team are looking to claim another gold this week as the squad begins the World Jr. A Challenge preliminary round Tuesday against Russia and Wednesday against Canada East. The United States has claimed gold four times in the past five years.

PLAYER LEAVES: Aidan Muir is riding a three-game point streak...Jake Cass's game-tying goal on Friday was his first goal of his USHL career...Scott Conway is tied for second in the league in shots on goal (47) and has eight points (5G, 3A) in his last six games...Dwyer Tschantz has four points (2G, 2A) in his last three games...Brian Pinho (G, 2A) has three points in his past two games...Vince Pedrie, Matt Roy and Samu Perhonen were sidelined with injuries last weekend, while Michael Preston was suspended....In addition, Mitch Hults remains on Injured Reserve.

TEAM WINDS: Indy is second in the league in shots for (35.18) and first in the league in shots against (25.26)...The Ice has held opponents to four third-period shots in their last two games...Indy is 3-2-3 against the Eastern Conference...The Ice is last in the USHL at home on the power play (4.3%)...30 of the teams' 37 goals on the year have come in the second and third period.

ALUMNI JABBER: Blake Coleman (09-11) and Alex Wideman (09-11) combined for six points (3G, 3A) in a weekend sweep for Miami against Canisius...Shane Berschbach (08-10) dished out four assists for Western Michigan in a weekend sweep of Colorado College...Nic Dowd (09-10) compiled three points (G, 2A) for St. Cloud in a weekend sweep of North Dakota...Anthony Bitetto (08-10) recorded four points (2G, 2A) in three games last week for Milwaukee (AHL)...With stellar play in the ECHL, T.J. Syner (07-08) and Kyle Bonis (07-08) both earned call-ups to the AHL to Hershey and Charlotte respectively.
