NEBRASKA SPLIT: The Ice split a pair of road games in Nebraska over the weekend as the team registered a 6-2 win over the Tri-City Storm on Friday, before dropping a 3-1 decision to the Lincoln Stars on Saturday night. Emil Romig (2G) and Robbie Baillargeon (3A) combined for five points in Friday's victory, while Jon Gillies turned back 30 of 32 in net. Christian Hilbrich notched the lone goal on Saturday, while Gillies was solid again stopping 28 of 30 in defeat.
TAKE OFFENSE: Indiana owns the top offensive unit in the USHL as the "Circle City" attack is first in the league in goals for/game (4.50) and first on the power play (11-28, 39.3%). As for individuals, Daniil Tarasov is tied for first in points (11) and Sean Kuraly sits in a tie for third with ten points. Alex Barron tops all league defensemen with seven points to go along with a (+7) plus/minus.
THE NUMBERS GAME: FIVE AND 11: The Ice began the season 5-0-0 for the first time in franchise history, while Sean Kuraly owns the top assist streak in the USHL this year at five games. Tarasov is tied for first in the league in points (11) and Indiana has scored a total of 11 goals in both the second and third periods of games this season.
"THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS": Indy scored three goals in a span of 1:39 in the third period of Friday's 6-2 win over Tri-City. Emil Romig, Daniil Tarasov and Drew Smolcynski were the lamplighters as they blew a close game wide open with the impressive third period barrage.
THE NOTEBOOK: Tyler Pham has two more games remaining on a five-game suspension...Forward Dan Cesarz was traded to Kalamazoo (NAHL) over the weekend for future considerations...Alex Barron has two games with a (+3) plus/minus this year...Jon Gillies is tied for first in wins (4) and is sixth in GAA (2.19) and fifth in save percentage among USHL goaltenders...Alexander Kuqali and Christian Hilbrich scored points in both games last weekend...Waterloo switched conferences this season as the Black Hawks now soar in the Western Conference....The Ice is 12-3-1 against Waterloo the last three years...Indy and Muskegon have played the least amount of home games with one date apiece.
ALUMNI BIGSHOTS: Torey Krug had the game-winner for MSU in a 3-0 win over Ohio State on Friday...David Johnstone and Nick Mattson both had three-point weekends for Michigan Tech and North Dakota respectively...Nic Dowd had a pair of goals for St. Cloud in a three-point weekend against UNH.
