Indiana Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Ice announced today that goaltender Scott Darling captured the USHL's Goaltender of the Week award for the second time this season.
Darling stood strong between the pipes this weekend in the Ice's two-game set with the West Division-leading Omaha Lancers this past weekend from Pepsi Coliseum. The first-year USHL goaltender had 34 saves in the team's 3-2 shootout loss on Friday and followed that outing with an impressive 35-save performance in a 3-2 overtime win on Saturday.
The 6-5 goaltender has won 14 of his last 17 starts in net and is tied for second in the league with wins (16) on the season. Darling has committed to the University of Maine for collegiate hockey and was also a 2007 NHL Draft Pick of the Phoenix Coyotes.
The Ice will close out January with three games this week, including an East Division contest against the Waterloo Black Hawks tonight from Waterloo, IA, starting at 8:05 p.m. Indy then returns to Pepsi Coliseum to host a two-game set with the Des Moines Buccaneers this Friday (1/25) and Saturday (1/26). Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. both evenings.
