Indiana Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS- The Indiana Ice announced today that forward Dywer Tschantz has committed to playing collegiate hockey at Cornell University. Cornell is an NCAA Division I member of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Tschantz becomes the fourth Iceman to commit to the Ithaca, NY program and would join former Ice forwards Brian Ferlin and Christian Hilbrich on the "Big Red" roster. Locke Jillson (07-08) was also a four-year skater at Cornell.
In his first season with the Ice, the Wilmington, DE native ranks second on the team in goals (6) and has racked up nine points (6G, 3A) through 13 games. Tschantz joined Indy after spending the 2012-2013 season with the Team Comcast U18 program in New Jersey. While skating with Team Comcast, Tschantz recorded 91 points (38G, 53A) in 67 games last season.
Cornell has a rich college hockey history that includes 19 NCAA Tournament appearances and eight Frozen Four appearances. The institution also holds two NCAA Tournament championships (1967, 1970) in addition to their 12 ECAC Championships. Former "Big Red" players include legendary NHL Hall of Famers Ken Dryden (Montreal) and Joe Nieuwendyk (Calgary, Dallas, New Jersey, Toronto, Florida).
