ICE Begin Three-Game Homestand against Red-Hot Oil Kings

Cranbrook, B.C. - The Kootenay ICE (1-2-0-0) begin a three-game homestand against the red-hot Edmonton Oil Kings (5-1-0-0) on Friday.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT.

The ICE are coming off of a 6-3 loss to the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday, September 29, 2018. The ICE trailed 6-0 early in the third period before scoring three unanswered goals to finish off the game. Davis Murray scored his first two goals as a member of the ICE while Peyton Krebs added the other. Goaltender Jesse Makaj made his first start of the season and stopped 24-of-30 shots. The ICE were outshot 30-27. The ICE went 0-for-4 on the power play, 5-for-6 on the penalty kill and won 28 of 63 faceoffs.

The ICE have amassed two points this season, which is good for fifth in the Central Division and ninth in the Eastern Conference.

The Edmonton Oil Kings kick-off a six-game road trip when it visits the Kootenay ICE on Friday, October 5, 2018. The Oil Kings are one of the early surprises in the WHL, starting off the 2018-19 season with a blistering record of 5-1-0-0. The Oil Kings are coming off of their first defeat of the season, a 5-3 loss to the Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday. Trey Fix-Wolansky scored two goals for the Oil Kings, while Wyatt McLeod potted the other. Goaltender Dylan Myskiw stopped 30-of-34 shots he faced. The Oil Kings went 1-for-4 on the power play, 4-for-4 on the penalty kill and won 28 of 61 faceoffs.

The Oil Kings have collected 10 points this season, which is good for first in the Central Division and second in the Eastern Conference.
