Ice Bats Complete Fort Worth Trade

Austin Ice Bats News Release
The Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League today announced completion of a prior trade with Fort Worth, sending the rights to defensemen Brandon Carper and Pat Brownlee to the Brahmas. The players represent "future considerations" owed to the Brahmas in the trade that brought goaltender Brent Belecki to Austin. The Ice Bats also dealt defenseman Scott McCallum to Fort Worth at the time of the trade in February.
Carper, who joined the team after starting the season in Germany, scored 6 goals and 23 assists in 45 games with the Ice Bats last season. Brownlee had 4 goals and 12 assists in 64 games.
"Both players are now veterans, and both have indicated they're retiring," said Jeff Greenlaw, Ice Bats Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations. "With tighter restrictions concerning the number of veterans we can have, it's going to be very important to bring new blood to our hockey team. We're committed to building a team with new energy to compete for a championship."
The Ice Bats have now completed all trades in which they owed future considerations, but are still to receive a player from Odessa, as part of the deal that sent defenseman Brent Currie to the Jackalopes during last year's training camp.
Greenlaw said he is close on a number of other player signings, with those contracts to be announced in the coming weeks.
