Ice Adds Two Forwards

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that the team has added forwards Ryan Carter and Bob Miele to its training camp roster. To make room on the roster, the team released forwards Olivier Gagnon, Bryan Grant and Matt Wilkins.

Carter, 25, arrives in Indy with major collegiate accolades as he was one of the ten finalists for the Hobey Baker Award last season which is given annually to the top collegiate player in the United States. The 6-2, 205 pound forward finished off a four-year career with Iona College of the Mid Atlantic Athletic Conference (NCAA-I) in grand style as he led the Gaels and the entire conference in scoring with 43 points (18G, 25A) in just 33 games.

While at Iona, he served as captain on three different seasons and leaves the university as their all-time leading scorer and the all-time career leader in points in the MAAC Conference. His overall numbers consisted of 179 points (93G, 86A), 25 power play goals and 11 game-winners in 138 career games. His stellar play earned him a pro call-up at the end of last season as he scored two points in five games with Reading (ECHL).

Miele, 23, played four years collegiately at Amherst (NESCAC- NCAA-III). The 6-0, 215 pounder was second on the team in scoring last season with 27 points (13G, 14A) and collected 105 points (56G, 49A) and 20 power play goals for his collegiate career.

The Ice will play a pre-season game this Friday against the Memphis RiverKings when the two teams collide at 7:00 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum.

The Indianapolis Ice opens up the regular season and its 15th season of hockey in the "Circle City" with a pair of home games next weekend as the team hosts the Tulsa Oilers on Friday, October 18th and the Memphis RiverKings on Saturday, October 19th. Both games begin at 7:00 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum.
