Indianapolis Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that the team has signed defenseman Chad McIver to a contract. To make room for McIver on the roster, the team waived defenseman Mike Bozoian.

The 6-1, 211-pound McIver made his professional debut last season in the East Coast Hockey League where he spent time with three different teams. He played the majority of the season with the Northern Conference Finalist Cincinnati Cyclones, where he registered five points (2G, 3A) and 42 penalty minutes in 43 games. He also saw action in all 15 playoff games for Cincy.

"I felt we needed a little more size back on defense and a player that plays that "stay at home" type of style," said Ice Head Coach Ken McRae. "Chad's a big kid who finishes his checks and plays hard every night.

McIver, who played two games this year with the Columbus Stars of the United Hockey League, is a product of Ferris State University (CCHA), where he was captain of the Bulldogs in his senior year and a teammate of former Ice players Scott Lewis and Casey Harris. In four years at FSU, the 25-year-old defenseman posted 14 points (1G, 13A) and 254 penalty minutes in 126 games.

The Indianapolis Ice is home for two games this weekend with a pair of contests against the Odessa Jackalopes. Tonight's game is a 7:00 p.m. tilt from the Pepsi Coliseum, while tomorrow night's game is a 7:00 start from Conseco Fieldhouse.

Tickets for this weekends' games can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations including select Marsh Supermarkets, Karma Records, select L.S. Ayres and the Pepsi Coliseum and Conseco Fieldhouse box offices, or by calling 239-5151 or online at ticketmaster.com.
