Macomb County Mustangs News Release

The IBL season starts on April 8th, 2005. The IBL is currently looking for interested, qualified referees to officiate the Macomb County Mustangs home games. Interested referees should contact the IBL at 866-IBL-GAME, or email info@iblhoopsonline.com. To be considered, experienced referees must have at least some college level experience. An IBL game consists of three referees per game.

The IBL is a professional basketball league with two unique features:

1. Excitement: the IBL game eliminates dead time with two rules—one timeout per quarter and the immediate inbound. The result is a faster, more athletic game—a game with flow that is more entertaining for spectators. Commissioner—"The IBL game is faster, more athletic and more fun than anything fans have seen at the professional level in two decades."

2. Affordability: the IBL only recruits in clusters. Clusters are teams within a drive of each other. An owner saves money with the proximity of the games in a cluster. The owner saves more money when the team travels by airplane (once per season) to other regional clusters as they can knock out four games in four days. This efficient scheduling makes operating IBL teams very affordable. Commissioner Duilio "Other minor leagues require too much air travel; sending fifteen players and coaches by flight is too costly for minor league teams. By placing teams in strategic clusters the IBL teams will save a lot of money because of the huge reduction in travel costs. This means once an IBL team is established in Macomb County, the team could be permanent instead of just being in a town for a few years."

Nineteen cities have committed to play in the IBL's inaugural 2005 season:
1) Vancouver WA 2) Dayton OH 3) San Jose CA
4) Waterloo IA 5) Akron OH 6) Youngstown OH
7) Chico CA 8) Grand Rapids MI 9) Detroit MI
10) Charleston WV 11) Battle Creek MI 12) Tacoma WA
13) Macomb County MI 14) Central OR 15) Des Moines IA
16) Windy City IL 17) Oakland CA 18) Portland OR
