
Hutson's Two Goals Lift Muskegon over Green Bay 5-4

GREEN BAY, Wisc. - Quinn Hutson's two goals lifted the Muskegon Lumberjacks to victory over the Green Bay Gamblers by a final score of 5-to-4 on Friday, Jan. 28 from the Resch Center in downtown Green Bay. Joey Larson added himself to the scoresheet multiple times to the tune of one goal and one assist, while captain Jack Williams and Jake Braccini notched additional goals for the Lumberjacks. With the win, Muskegon sets up camp atop the Eastern Conference standings, leapfrogging the slumping Chicago Steel with 48 points and an overall record of 22-10-2-2.
1st Period
It took some time during the initial feeling-out period, but the Gamblers struck first while on the power play at 13:40 from Jackson Hallum to make it a 1-to-0 game. Hallum's 18th of the season was assisted by Brody Lamb and Damien Carfagna.
At the end of 20 minutes of action, the Jacks trailed 1-to-0 to the Green Bay Gamblers.
2nd Period
At 4:12, Muskegon's Joey Larson got the Jacks on the board with his 19th goal of the season to tie the game 1-to-1. Quinn Hutson tallied the lone assist.
In the waning minutes of the second period, Lumberjacks captain Jack Williams notched his ninth goal of the season to give Muskegon the 2-to-1 lead.
Exactly two minutes late, the Jacks doubled the lead to 3-to-1 with a goal from Quinn Hutson at 18:13 of the second period. Ben Strinden and Joey Larson scored assists on Hutson's 19th goal of the season.
Just 19 seconds later, the Gamblers would respond with Matt DeBoer's ninth of the season to put Green Bay within one at 18:46 of the period. John Mittlestadt and Jarod Crespo picked up assists.
After 40 minutes of action, the Jacks controlled a 3-to-2 lead going into the second intermission and final period of regulation.
3rd Period
About two minutes into the third period, Quinn Hutson restored the two-goal Muskegon lead with his second goal of the game to make it a 4-to-2 score. Hutson's 20th of the season was assisted by Joey Larson at 2:29 of the period.
Just over two minutes later at 4:54, Jake Braccini piped one home to put Muskegon up by three in a 5-to-2 score. Tyler Hotson managed to pick up the only assist on Braccini's 16th goal of the season.
While on the power play, Green Bay's Jarod Crespo cut into the deficit with his fifth goal of the season to make it a 5-to-3 game at 13:25 of the period. Matt DeBoer and Alex Servagno added assists to put Green Bay within a pair.
With just 1:38 left in regulation, Jackson Hallum scored for Green Bay to pull within a goal at 18:22 of the third period. Hallum's 19th of the season was assisted by Damien Carfagna and am Lund to make it a 5-to-4 score, still in favor of Muskegon.
Alas, the comeback was not to be for the Gamblers as Muskegon held on to win by a final score of 5-to-4 and earn two additional points in the standings.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks are due back at the Resch Center to complete their two-game weekend series with the Green Bay Gamblers on Saturday, Jan. 29. Tomorrow night's game will start at 8:05 pm EST in downtown Green Bay.
