
Huskins Named Player of the Week

SAN DIEGO - Joey Huskins has been named the Golden Baseball League Player of the Week for the week of July 31-August 6. Huskins joins Adam Mandel and Steve Smyth as the only three Surf Dawgs to earn a weekly award in 2006.
Huskins, who played for Tony Gwynn's San Diego State Aztecs this past spring, hit .526 with a .591 on-base percentage and a .789 slugging percentage to lead the GBL in all three categories last week. During that time span Huskins had four multi-hit games, two doubles, his first professional home run, and he drove in four runs.
The Huntington Beach native joined the Surf Dawgs after the All-Star break and is hitting .304 with 11 RBI coming into tonight's game with the Silver Sox.
Huskins and the Surf Dawgs finish up their three-game series tonight in Reno with the first pitch coming at 6:35 p.m. PT. The Dawgs return home tomorrow for a three-game series with the Fullerton Flyers. Game times are 7:05 Friday night, 6:05 on Saturday night for Trading Card Night presented by Cal Coast Credit Union, and 5:05 on Sunday night.
